Photogrammetry Project Carved Inlaid Animal Motif Wood Boxes

This project I decided to take on for myself is to photo scan 2 boxes I had in my house. I used 147 photographs for the square box and 94 photographs for the long box, which were processed by Meshroom for making the 3D meshes. The workflow comprised of refining the raw meshes in Blender, followed by using Blender’s “Shrinkwrap” modifier in conjunction with the “face projection” tool. This process of modelling gave me a accurate low-poly representation of the high-poly. Following the completion of this step, I UV unwrap the low-poly meshes and used Meshroom to generate the base colour maps and Substance 3D Painter for texture baking the rest of the textures. The final touches included manual refinement of the base colour map using Affinity Photo and an improved roughness maps generated via Substance Sampler.
